Introduction

From October 2011, Forktime will be offering a new High-Reach & Counterbalanced Forklift Training & Assessment course.

To celebrate the arrival of my High-Reach forklift truck learn to drive two forklifts for the price of one. Counterbalanced & electric High-Reach forklift. About the forklifts used for training: - two types of forklift trucks are used for training both require the same high risk licence (LF). Download the pdf file here.

  • RTO registered 434047.
  • AQTF quality training and assessment.
  • WorkCover approved for High Risk Work RTO800151.
  • Assessors are WorkCover Accredited.

Counterbalanced forklift truck

are often used in factories, warehouses and worksites, they are used with a variety of attachments although forks are most common. These forklift trucks can be petrol, gas or electric.

  • Make: Nissan.
  • Capacity: 1340kgs.
  • Lift height: 4500 meters.
  • Attachment: side shift.
  • Fuel: Gas.

High-Reach truck electric

The High Reach forklift licence will enable successfull applicants to operate a highreach forklift in the workplace

used in warehouses, factories has telescopic forks at right angles to the operator so they drive straight down an aisle but pickup loads to the side. The operator is seated at the controls although some models are for standing.

  • Make: Toyota BT.
  • Model: RRB2.
  • Capacity: 1600kgs.
  • Lift height: 8500 meters (has been electronically set to a max 4500meters).
  • Attachments: side shift – weight gauge.
  • Fuel: Electric.


Course Overview

This course offers the information and skills you need to become a licensed forklift operator. It provides basic training in the safe operation of forklifts. It covers the following skills and criteria:

  • Identify hazards associated with the operation of the forklift truck and put in place effective hazard controls for those hazards identified.
  • Conduct pre-start-up, operational, moving loads and shut down and secure checks of the forklift truck according to procedures.
  • Operate the forklift truck and move loads safely, including driving and maneuvering, picking up and placing of loads at various stack heights.
  • Drive forklift truck with load in forward and reverse, maintaining visibility.
  • Understanding the Stability triangle and forklift functions.

Course Content

It covers the following skills and criteria:

  • Communicate and work safely with others in the work area.

The Course Uses

an animated PowerPoint display together with a student workbook, handouts RTO issued logbook for written tasks & self assessment, course videos and demonstrations with practical exercises. "An additional requirement of the NVR Standards is that an RTO must be able to reproduce qualifications for a period of 30 years and retain all completed assessments for a minimum of 6 months after completion of the course. It is a WorkCover requirement that all completed assessments must be retained for a two year period".


Duration

Courses are offered under a flexible one day to five - day duration, depending on the needs of the student.  A three day course is most often used for the new driver, but in the event of a student not yet being ready, he/she may return for further practice at no expense. Shorter courses are available, depending on the needs of the student.


Assessment

an assessor is organized and testing and licensing is arranged.  Correct driving technique is shown and practiced and then loading and unloading of pallets in racking is taught and practiced, prior to testing and licensing.
